After sharing a few photos of the Matterhorn over Messenger, my friend asked ‘What’s it like in person? What do you feel?’
I replied,
I feel calm.
It just sits there, unmoving. Everything else moves around it. Light, clouds, people, seasons. But it just sits.
It’s not asking for attention. It’s just beautiful the way it is. Letting change happen, but staying humble, majestic. You know?
It’s wondrous what five days of reflective solitude in the mountains can do for you. And hiking, lots of hiking. Thankfully Switzerland has good trail signage.
Photographed in the Swiss Alps, October 2018.
